Supervision

Professional licensure is the highest and most powerful regulation of the profession. Licensure serves a major point of emphasis for national recognition as a competent individual. Being licensed protects the public from individuals who practice beyond their scope of expertise and there are laws prohibiting individuals from practicing illegally or unethically.

My own professional identity as a professional counselor and supervisor is built on a solid foundation. Counseling is a profession where I continue to enhance my knowledge and abilities through continuing to engage in educational opportunities and common values systems based on the needs of our  complex and diverse society.  I am a member of the ACA and take advantage of workshops and training offered by the association. Promoting counselor identity as a supervisor encompasses what a supervisor should do.

The cornerstone of professional development in the field of counseling is individual supervision. Individual supervision is the foundation of the counselor training process, Supervision is essential so it is important that the supervisees should take responsibility for choosing their supervisor. In my supervisory practice it will be essential that I articulate effectively and make my supervisee self aware of all the professional standards not only of our own profession but also the expectations of the facilities where we provide services. My role as a supervisor in the professional development of the supervisees will be planned to incorporate and acquire resources needed for effective and efficient program implementation.
